Teaching Literacy Skills in Junior Science

Scientists employ the same critical thinking and reasoning skills when reading that they use in the laboratory.  Many researchers thus believe that teaching science and reading together are mutually beneficial.  Helping your students become independent learners essentially means teaching them how to learn from reading.  This workshop presents a scientist's perspective on literacy and its role in the science classroom.  Workshop participants will learn and play fun games that develop important literacy skills and improve student achievement.
